Day 2: Affirm it
    Written by Anhayla Stanley

Yesterday on Day 1, we took control of our living environments and completed tasks that we have been putting off. Now, we can start with matters of the mind.

Today, I will ask you another question…How do you feel about yourself?

I want you to honestly answer this question and write it down.

What’s the first thing that came to mind?

If your answer is filled with negative thoughts it's ok…you’re not alone. The reason peace escapes many of us is because we allow the world to dictate how we feel about ourselves. If we don't have the degree, the two kids by 30, the million dollars, and the perfect body then somehow are worth diminishes. The list continues and we file in our minds with even more unrealistic expectations when it comes to our relationships, career, religion and health.

Today, you can let go of all of those so called requirements and expectations and simply think about who you want to be in this life. Take time and write one sentence that makes you feel good about who you are. Turn the negatives into a positive. Choose something that will inspire you when you start to feel overwhelmed by life.

Here are some examples to get you started.

*I can do anything I put my mind to.

*I am enough and I have everything within me to walk in my purpose.

*I love my life and everything that makes me who I am.

You don't have to write 50 affirmations, you only have to write one. Don't make it complicated. It can be short, it can be long, It just has to be personal to your journey. This is a simple assignment but also a very important one. This affirmation is the first step to activate your peace. You can have all the tools to have a peaceful life but if you don't believe in who you are you will constantly be at war with yourself internally.

Affirmations help you take back your power. One simple affirmation can change how you view yourself and give you the courage to make necessary changes in your life.

When you've chosen your affirmation, recite it 10 times in the morning when you first open your eyes and 10 times at night when you close your eyes to go to sleep. As you say your affirmation, visualize your peace and open your heart to receive. Continue this practice as we continue this journey on 31 days of peace.
