It’s the beginning of May — a fresh start. This is the reset that many of us have been waiting for. There has been so much going on in the world.
Every time you turn on the news or scroll through social media, you're likely to see more breaking news about COVID-19. In the midst of everything that's going on, it is so easy to lose your peace and become depressed by everything that is happening around you.
Ease your mind and start a new journey today: 31 days of peace. This journey wont be hard, it will be simple, small things that you can do daily to center and find peace within yourself. Let's get started. 💜
Day 1 - Create Space
Today is about bringing order to your environment. Take a look around your home and get rid of any clutter. Your personal space matters. We often neglect our homes because we’re busy in our minds burdened by overthinking or sadness.
It’s much easier to get loss in a Netflix series or endless scrolling on social media. That way you don't have to deal with anything in your own life. Since many of us are in quarantine you may not find keeping your living space clean to be a necessity. After all, who is going to come and visit?
Today make this about YOU. Clean up for YOU. Make up your bed for YOU. Do the chores you've been neglecting. Fold the clothes that have been sitting in a basket, make your bed, pay attention to the small details and take care of your space. This is the first step before we tackle our minds.
Set yourself up for success and get rid of the distraction of clutter. When your living space is cluttered it’s harder to think. For me, if my room is a mess then most likely my mind is a mess too. How you take care of your environment is usually a reflection of the care you give to yourself. So ask yourself this question…Am I taking care of what I have?
Everyone is different and everyone organizes different too. I'm not saying you have alphabetize your spices or fold your clothes like on “Tidying up”…I'm saying only YOU know what you need to do and what your tolerance is. Try it out and see how it feels to follow through. This may take 30 minutes for some and it may take longer for others. Don't make it complicated, keep it simple and take care of one thing you've been putting off around your home.
The goal is to create space in your home so you can eventually create space within your mind. When we cross things off the to-do list like “Fold clothes” or “sweep” we then can add the things that are more important and add internal value to our soul and our lives.
