Day 4: Trust God
Written by A’ngelique Tyree "The Broken Heel"

This past week has been trying. From applying for jobs to the point where I forgot who I was applying too, pitching myself to people, contemplating why people didn’t see my potential and what I am capable of doing, to just feeling like I am not in the place in my life where I need to be.

Thoughts like “Is New York the place for me anymore?” or “Am I too career driven that I’ve neglected to think of other important things in life?” I even got to the point where I was so frustrated that I was actually angry with God. I would say things like “Seriously God, haven’t I struggled enough??” Or “What else do you want from me Lord??”

This week I’ve just worried so much to the point that I felt like I was about to break. You just get to a point where you’re tired of talking about your problems with friends & family and hearing “things will get better in due time” or “hold on a little longer” because you’ve heard it too many times before.

Through all of the worrying and taking a Tylenol through all the headaches each night, it finally hit me. I realized that I have a control complex and get very uneasy when I don’t feel like I have control over my life. That’s why I had always been afraid to get on planes or as many of my friends know I am that annoying “passenger seat driver!”

I felt like I was out of control and over the edge. But then it hit me… I do my routine prayer every day and “recite” that I believe God will provide all my needs, but did I TRULY trust it??

I know a lot of people have gone through some trying times recently, but we have to ask ourselves…”Are we able to lose TOTAL control of ourselves and FULLY trust God?”

Here are 6 personal opinions, Bible references, and borrowed quotes that will allow you to stay in control by losing control:

    1)  Give yourself away fully to God and actually trust that he hears what you’re asking him for. As the quote says, God will always answer with “Yes”, “Not yet”, or “I have something greater in store for you.”

    2)  I don’t need the acceptance of people bc the approval of God is enough. 3. Are you more concerned with pleasing God or being “liked?”

    4)  Because you’re doing things for God doesn’t mean you’re close to God. You have to be with Him intimately if you expect him to fulfill all of your needs.

    5)  “For we know all things work together for the good for those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

    6)  “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4:6-7

I’ve challenged this to myself and to my friends: Try to go one week strictly off of prayer and faith. Don’t actively seek anything and trust that God will provide you everything. For instance, if you’re stressed about finding a job or apartment, go one week without actively searching for one but give yourself away to God and trust that He will provide you with what you need.
